JOSTENS: Jostens representatives will be on campus March 11th to deliver graduation items that have already been placed.  If you have not ordered a cap/gown or other items, you may go to Jostens.com to place an order.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD: The Searcy Public Library is looking for students who would like to be a part of a teen advisory board. The purpose of the advisory board is to help plan activities at the library for ages 13-17. A meeting is planned for April 7th from 4:30-5:00. Interested students should contact Lisa Boatman or Amber Duncan at the Searcy Public Library or Mrs. Cannon at the SHS library.

CONGRATULATIONS to Matthew Fudge for being chosen for the 11th and 12th Grade Southwest American Choral Director’s Graded Honor Choir. The SWACDA Convention and Honor Choirs encompass Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas and happens biennial in rotation with the National Convention. The students submitted three recordings in the fall to a SWACDA committee and were notified in November. The 2020 SWACDA Convention will be held in Little Rock March 4th-7th with the Honor Choir concerts on Saturday, March 7th. 

VARSITY CHEERLEADER AND LIONSTEPPER TRYOUTS: There will be sign up sheets in the east and west offices for girls interested in trying out for varsity cheer and Lionsteppers.  There will be a mandatory meeting for all candidates and one parent on Tuesday, March 10th at 5:30 in the main gym.  See Coach Simpson or Coach Cramblett for more details

CITY LEAGUE BASEBALL SIGN UPS : 15 years old and younger can participate. You can sign up in person at the Carmichael Center on March 3rd and 5th or online at https://www.searcyrecreationalsportsleague.org 

 

THE ERNEST WHITELAW-DON KINNEY SCHOLARSHIP application is now available and the deadline to apply is April 10.  In order to be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants must be of documentable Native American descent from a federally recognized tribe. The documentation required is a CDIB (Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood) card or tribal enrollment documentation from a federal recognized tribe. A copy must be furnished with the application.

Applications and further information can be picked up in the Guidance Center.   

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: Attention all current 9-11th grade girls interested in trying out  for the high school basketball team: Tryouts will be held in the annex gym March 30-31 3:30-5:00. All students’ interested need to fill out the tryout form found in both offices or from Coach Sitzmann. All needed information is found on the tryout form. You will have up until the start of day 1 of tryouts to turn in your forms. 

SHS PROM CLOSET: SHS Students attending the SHS prom and would like to take advantage of the new or gently worn prom dresses, men’s suites/ties, shoes, purses and jewelry are invited to visit the SHS Prom Closet on the designated shopping days. Students may also sign up for the cosmetic services offered on the day of the prom at the Searcy High School Performing Arts Center makeup room. The shopping days for the prom closet will be Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, April 8th Searcy High School Performing Arts Center- 3rd Floor. 3:05-5:00 P.M.

 UNITY  HEALTH CAMP: Unity Health will offer a free summer enrichment program designed to inform students about medical careers.  This camp is for rising 11th and 12th graders and will run June 15-19.  Interested students can pick up more information in the Guidance Center. 

STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The 2020 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $12.000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior College or career school. It’s quick and easy to apply: Long on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The winner will be announced in May, 2020.
