Lions surprise Central Tigers in final seconds

The “Red out ” Football game last Friday against Little Rock Central was one of the most exciting that we’ve seen this season, according to fans.

“I was kind of mad when they let them get the first touch down, but then we tied it, so everything was okay. Central then got ahead and that really got to me, but everything turned and we scored,” junior Lyric Riggs said.

Sophomore Joe Kalinowski said that everyone was all sad, but he had faith. He was still screaming and cheering.

“We were losing, it was 13 to 14. It was going to be fourteen to fourteen, but they go for the fake to win, and they drop it, the other team was all like, ‘Oh we are going to win,'” Kalinowski said. “They went for the off side, kicked it, I saw two people fly into the air, hit each other, catch the ball, they got to the ground, got the ball, we had the ball and I was like this is going good, they run and kept running, they threw the ball and ran. The first time they missed, I was sad.”

Junior Kara Treadwell said that she knew the Lions would pull through.

“The last part of the game when the clock was running out and it was ticking and we had one point on the clock,” said Treadwell.

“It flew through the air time, we caught the ball and fell in,” Kalinowski stated.

“We caught the ball and we won the game and the other team thought they did, but we told them,” Treadwell said.

“There were victory shouts and cheers. We were all happy,” exclaimed Kalinowski.
