Russellville West traveled here, last Thursday, to Searcy to play the Cubs, which ended in a victory.
“I got a touchdown on defense,” said freshman Conner Sparks. “We blocked a punt, and Parsley had a couple touchdown runs. We did really good.”
Freshman Michael Parsley said the team didn’t start off too well.
“But we still came out on top,” Parsley said. “Our defense excelled, our offense, our lineman, you just gotta get after it.”
Andrew Neaville said the Russellville team wasn’t that good.
“We came out with a ‘W,'” Neaville said. “I thought we could do better, but we still won.”
Parsley said several plays ed the to their success in the game.
“Noah Ford blocked a punt and Sparks returned it for a touchdown,” Parsley said. “I had two touchdowns Luke Dixon ran it in for one; we won 33 to 6.”
Neaville said the defense played a big role in the win.
“The main things that happened were: we got a blocked punt. It was pretty good, and we scored on that,” said Neaville. “Parsley ran a few touchdowns, Dixon got one too. The backs pretty good, as well.”
Sparks said the team is 6-1 as of now and all the losses were non-conference.
“So we’re undefeated in conference right now. We play Little Rock Christian this week,” said Sparks.
Parsley said Little Rock Christian will be a challenge.
“They’re 4 and 0, so it’s going to be a big game for us,” said Parsley. “We have got to play to the best of our ability.”
Neaville is pleased with the team’s performance.
“I wish we would have won the game against Jonesboro Annie Camp, it’s whatever,” said Neaville. “I think we are doing pretty good on conference, and we have a good shot at the Wenchin Conference.”
The Searcy Cubs have already proved it is going to be a great football season.
