Cheer coach retires from coaching position

Screen Shot 2013-05-10 at 2.24.55 PMMany Searcy High School students have most likely seen the cheerleading squad at several sporting events, but next year the squad is going to return with a new coach.

“I have just decided that it was time to resign. I have been teaching 28 years, but I came here in 1997; I have been at the high school for 16 years. I asked if I can do the cheerleaders, they told me I could because I was a cheerleader myself and loved it, so I have been doing it or 16 years and I have a grandson; I’m just ready to spend sometime with my family. It takes a lot of time traveling,” said Stacy Cramblett cheerleading coach.

There is a mutual feeling between Coach Cramblett and the cheerleaders about her resigning.

“The most rewarding part is probably just how close I get with all the girls; they mean so much to me and stuff. That is the hardest part, for me, leaving is because of the close relationship with these girls,” said Cramblett.

“I am sad that she is not going to be my coach for the last year that I’m here, but I’m grateful that I had her for the last past two years,” said cheerleader Claire Maddox.

There are high hopes and high expectations for the new cheerleading coach.

“I’m sure whoever they get to replace me will do a wonderful job. They do need to have a little bit of experience or at least know a little about cheerleading and what all it initials. I will be glad to help somebody get started and get on their feet; I hope the program will keep going and be as good as its been, or at least I felt like it has been a good program since I’ve been here. I just hope that continues,” explained Cramblett.

“It will be different; it will be new, but I’m willing and open to anybody who is going to be the new coach and I’m excited for a new year,” stated Maddox.

There are many things that Coach Cramblett and her girls will miss next year.

“The girls stunting, I love that part; I like the dancing part a whole lot; I like just being in charge of a great group of wonderful young ladies and being able to help them get better and better at what they do,” said Cramblett.

“Just adjusting to the new way our coach will talk to us or tell us how to improve; just others things like that that Cramblett used to do for us,” said Maddox.

Even with the lost of Coach Cramblett this year, the Searcy High cheerleaders will continue to grow together as a squad.
