Volunteers are working hard to raise money across the state for autism awareness by hosting community softball games.
“I’m in this softball tournament to raise awareness and to raise money for the walk which will occur on October 5,” explains Physical Therapist, Robbie Pryor. “It’s Walk Now for Autism Arkansas. So we’re trying to raise money for autism awareness, autism research, autism education, and all the proceeds will go towards the walk.”
The locals came to support the charity by playing in teams.
“Most of the teams are local teams actually. We’ve got several churches involved, we have to Searcy Parks and Recreation, and some Harding students also have a team together to come and help show their support, ” Pryor said.
The teams could buy items in support of the program.
“We have some autism jewelry that much of it displays the puzzle piece which is the symbol for autism,” Occupational Therapist, Vlatrina Bomar said. “And we have bracelets and necklaces and earrings, and we also have silent auction items that have been donated to us from the community for people to bid on.”
