FFA Week is a national event that occurs in high schools across the country.
“FFA Week is a week out of the year to celebrate the National FFA organization throughout the country,” said FFA teacher Addison Safley. “Every chapter from every state uses this week to recognize and celebrate our organization and what we are about.”
The week always goes from Monday to Saturday during the week of President’s Day.
“FFA week is seven days in which the members of the national FFA organization host fun activities and hang out with friends while supporting agriculture,” said sophomore Robert Weaver.
Even though it is a national occurrence, each school’s FFA officers choose what their school club will do each day of that week.
“There are activities each day of the week for the members to get together and celebrate together,” said junior Bailey Butler.
This year the days began with the Taylor classic, a CDE competition where students get to express their interests in FFA. Other nights were bowling, FFA olympics, Shop Wars, and a movie night. They ended the week with a bonfire to help members become closer to one another.
“When you go to a FFA event you do not go only to participate, you show up to have a good time,” said Weaver.
Searcy’s FFA leader is happy about the turnout of the exciting week.
“FFA week turned out great. We held an activity every day and also had ‘dress up day’ for the members. We had a lot of participation,” said Safley.
Members of FFA have enjoyed FFA week and participated in their own ways.
“I participated by going to all of the events and dressing up for the days,” said Butler.
With a wide variety of activities, everyone found something different they enjoyed, even Mr. Safley who enjoyed bowling.
“My personal favorite event during FFA week is bowling and shop wars. These two events are fun, and you can alway joke about it later,” said Weaver.
Shop wars seemed to be the most entertaining event seeing as the members all throughly enjoyed it and liked the competition.
“My favorite event was shop wars. We were teamed up and given a task. We had a limited time to compete and then they judged us on how well they worked,” said Butler.
FFA week went off without a hitch that all FFA members and leaders enjoyed.
“I mostly enjoy just having a week set aside for FFA only. It is a great organization. I love seeing students participating and watching them grow up,” said Safley.
FFA week was a huge success that the club enjoyed participating in.
