Barn dance gives two clubs chance to kick up heels

Being hosted in the cafeteria didn’t change many of the thoughts about the dance itself.

FFA began hosting annual barn dances two years ago, and it seems to become an even bigger hit every year.

A committee of around ten FFA members and FCCLA members came together to make this dance possible.

Despite many doubts about the two clubs working together, both sides had loads of fun and worked very well with each other in making the dance a successful one.

“It was fun to see FCCLA and FFA come together,” said freshman Jessica Wesson.

A lot of hard work went into creating this dance.

“We had to get enough lights for the dance floor and hay bales to hold the lights in the stands,” Said freshman and FFA treasurer Kyle Pinkley. “The girls had to point out signs and decorations, and we had to pick the music and food.”

As soon as you walked into the cafeteria, the level of hard work was very evident.

The place was transformed with giant cardboard cutouts, hay bales, lights, decorated tables, picture set-ups, a roping dummy, and of course the  inviting dance floor.

With all of the decorations, music, dancing, and food, the event seemed to be a huge success.

“We had a wonderful time,” said Wesson. “It was great to see such a well-planned, well-organized dance.”

One of the main goals for the dance was to invite new members and get to know everyone.

“We got to hangout, dance, and got to know other members a lot better,” said Pinkley.

The dancing itself was also a major attraction.

“We had a fantastic time dancing to some great songs,” said Wesson. “I learned the line dance to “Good Times” by Alan Jackson.”

However, like in all things, there is always room for improvement.

“More side activities would have been nice and more schools should attend,” advised Pinkley.

Overall, the dance was a huge success, many can’t wait to see what next year’s annual FFA Barn Dance has to offer.
