Red Ribbon Week celebrates drug free lifestyle

Schools across the country observe Red Ribbon Week each October.  At most schools, students receive a red ribbon which stands for being drug free.  Most students receive their red ribbons without thinking of the actual meaning behind the red ribbon, but some students know what the ribbon stands for.

“I think that Red Ribbon Week is a great way to support the drug free lifestyle and support it by wearing their ribbon all week,” senior Hayden Hill said.

Red Ribbon Week is a great time to focus on not doing drugs and being proud of the fact that they don’t do drugs.

“Red Ribbon Week is supposed to be about people not doing drugs and being proud that they don’t do drugs,” senior Brook McCord said.
Some students think that wearing the ribbon and showing support is a great way to support the drug free lifestyle.

“We do already have a spirit week but I think that if people wear the ribbon and show their support and don’t be afraid to support then it shows something big,”  Hill said.
Most think that the school is doing a great job of promoting drug free week.

“I think that the school does a very positive job because they pick out all of the red ribbons and then they pass out the flyers about why you don’t need to do drugs,” Wright said.
