As one of the best summers to go down in my own personal history book came to a close, I had to force myself into a pre-start-of-school routine. No more fun and games, and the new shift out of nocturnal sleep patterns, proved seriously hard for this teen. Thinking back, this was technically, my last summer as a high school student, for my first day of school would also be my last. I was finally a senior, and it snuck upon me before I was ready.
On the eve of my first day, I spent it staying up too late with friends, savoring the best memories of our summer, and fantasizing the awesome “top dog” experiences to look forward to this school year. It was exciting to anticipate an easy schedule of classes, and the chance to finally see all of the school friends we lost touch with during summer.
So of course, when the general day one came and went, it rushed past before I could think about it! I had so many new assignments, discussions, plans for clubs and weekend dates crammed into my mind. It was fantastic to see every familiar face and hear everyone’s laughs and summer recaps. It’s a rarity when one can be lucky enough to have several close groups of friends in one class. This was the case for my senior class in particular; therefore, once reunited it was all talk and planning. We couldn’t wait to cheer on our Lions and band at the soon approaching football games.
Clearly, I needed to wake up and start making the best of every day and every moment. Not only would this journey in high school soon end, but I would soon begin a new path, meet new people, and learn new things. Time flies. All I had to do, was decide what to do with the present time in front of me.
