While the end of the school year approaches, many students are working harder than ever on their final challenge of the year.
End of Course testing is occurring in Searcy High School as the year draws to a close.
“I am shooting for A’s on every test,” said sophomore Colton Oest.
There are a few different tests during these last few months of the school year besides the semester tests like geometry, biology, and algebra.
“I had to take the geometry End of Course test this year,” said freshman Chesni Raibley.
Most students work hard to make sure they do good on these last big tests.
“I look over my notes and get a good nights sleep the night before the test,” said Raibley.
Students have different ways that they prepare for these important tests.
“I study when I get study guides and I pay attention in class,” said Oest.
Teachers are also striving to help the students to be prepared and do their best on the test.
“The teachers go over what is going to be on the tests,” said freshman Ryleigh Evans.
Plenty of time is given for each test to make sure everyone finishes, and some students have time to spare.
“I think we have a little too much time,” said Raibley.
Students sometimes feel like there should be more time.
“I think for some tests, we have too much time and for others we may need more time,” said Oest.
Most students are confident on their skills and feel like they have done well.
“I think I did very well on my geometry test,” said Evans.
There are some hard parts about the testing schedule.
“Waiting is the hardest part,” said Riabley. “We have too much time so when we finish we are left to wait.”
For some people, the test give them a chance to raise their grade.
“It is definitely a good opportunity to raise a grade in a class,” said Oest.
As students are finishing their tests for the year, there are different emotions in each student.
“I feel confident about how I did, but I also feel tired,” said Evans.
The tests show their importance at the end of the semester.
“I feel relieved because they are essentially twenty percent of our grade,” said Oest.
Every year, end of course testing signals that the last day of school is drawing near.
“I am really excited for school to be over because I have plans for the summer,” said Oest.
Some students will miss school when it ends while others will enjoy being out.
“There will be a part of me that will miss it, but I definitely will not miss waking up a six-thirty every morning when school is out,” said Oest.
Even though summer break is almost here, the school year still has one more thing for students to work hard for.
