Searcy(LP): SO everyone coming back from spring break, you can see a little rosy color on their face. If you forgot the sunscreen on the beach or just stayed in the tanning bed a few minutes too long, here’s a few things to help the burn. You can place a cool compress on the burned area or take a cool shower or bath. In the bath you can add one cup of cider vinegar to quicken the healing process or add oatmeal and soak in that which heals the itch of the burn. Use lotions that contain aloe vera which soothes and moisturizes the burn. If the pain doesn’t subside then you may take over the counter pain relief, which also helps the fever of the burn reside. You could take milk and pour it on a clean cloth and apply it on the burn which helps create a protein film that help ease sunburn relief.
I interview Ashton who is a student in the doctor classes Searcy High school has. “You should protect yourself beforehand because sunburns are not good for health.” she carries on saying the basic fundamentals on how to help the healing process and protect the burn. Showers are good for right after the beach because it removes the salt or chlorine which will further dry out the skin. Also moisturize, moisturize, moisturize with the richest moisturizer you have. If it starts to blister you could get an infection, to prevent infection apply antibacterial ointment three times a day.
Wearing loose clothing lets the fabric not rub on the fabric, and can make you more prone to peeling and raw skin. If you can’t use Aloe Vera then menthol or Camphor also works very well. So this summer remember to stay hydrated, and to put on sunscreen.
