Searcy Bowling off to a Good Season

Searcy (LP) Searcy High School has been attending bowling as a school for about 10 years and has won 1 state championship. Their current season (2016-17) is held at 5-0. To warm up for each game, Searcy students and staff get calmed down for the big game and throw some practice shots. The bowling team is very confident with their team members.

“The girls are really good, our varsity players are doing great this year and we for sure will have a good outcome” said freshman Natalie Doyle.

High hopes are held for state this year. They are hoping to go all the way to state especially with the new people they have.

“We as a team are pretty good and I think we can do anything that we go for,” says Natalie.

“If we do not make state as a team we will at least have majority of our players go to state on their own and I expect them to do pretty well,” said Sophomore Dylan Hamilton.

Though Searcy would like to go to State they are worried about one specific team who has won state many times. They have always been a problem but they will hopefully beat them with no problem this year.

“Cabot is our most threatening team because they have bowlers who can bowl over 200 on average. They also have two people, a boy and a girl, who has bowled perfect games,” says Dillon and Natalie.

Cabot may be threatening but Searcy has also many proficient bowlers themselves. They recently got new bowlers who will help them succeed in beating Cabot.

“We recently got a senior who joined this year, Will Wilkins, who bowls an average of 170” says Dillon Hamilton.

The head coaches are trying really hard to prepare the boys and girls of Searcy High bowling team. They make sure to teach them every way they know so they can all have a proficient way of bowling.

“Coach Leonard is our head coach and we also have an outside coach who teaches and helps us along with Coach Leonard. His name is Kevin Prawl. They both teach us step by step on how to do good on each throw,” says Dillon.

Though Searcy has a very good bowling team they try to improve every day. They practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During practice they throw balls and make sure to line up shots and try to adjust if they are off at all.

“Practice is what we need as a team to improve, also we need to communicate and practice together”, stated Dillon Hamilton. “In any kind of relationship, one person’s ups and downs are the other person’s downs and ups. As you bowl as a team you figure out who the first bowler needs to be, the anchor bowler, who is dependent, and who can pick up spares.”

Though the season is not over yet the bowlers hope they will go to state and beat Cabot once and for all. High hopes are held this year for the Searcy bowling team.
