Searcy (LP) Spring Break is a time every student, whether in high school or in college, looks forward to. A week off from school might not sound like much to a person not in school, but to a student, 7 days of no homework and boring lectures is a dream come true.
Some students go on vacation during their break to relieve some of the stress from the school year. Other students take advantage of the break to tour colleges they’re interested in going to. Hayden Greer, a Junior at Searcy High School, killed two birds with one stone and explored his options on the East Coast while enjoying the beach. A few of the colleges Hayden toured included University of Florida in Gainesville, and Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Hayden said, ” I think Spring Break is a nice lull from the boring repetition of school. It gives us kids a chance to enjoy the spring and gets us ready for the summer. I tried to make use of my break touring some colleges while on my vacation, and knock a couple things off my list before my senior year starts.”
On the other hand, some students like Chance Lawson spent their time staying in town and working for most of the break. Chance, a Sophomore at Searcy High, said, ” I spent most of my break working and taking advantage of no school to get more hours at my job. I figured working the whole week would be worth it, when I get my check.” Many kids choose to stay in town and save money instead of going all out on huge vacation trips to Florida or California for example. Chance said, ” I think I’m going to wait and save my money for the summer, and maybe take a vacation then when I have more time, and the weather is warmer.”
As school starts back in session for schools all across the country, students shuffle back to their classrooms, and will have to wait until the summer starts to get their next break. Whether spending your break staying at home watching Netflix, or going to the beach, Spring Break is definitely missed.
