Searcy, Ark., (LP) — “Kid…if you need booze or drugs to enjoy your life to the fullest, you’re doing it all wrong,” — Robin Williams. Teenagers in this era have a different way of having fun. Studies revealed that 78 percent of U.S. teens had drank alcohol, and 47 percent of the group said they’d consumed 12 or more drinks in the past year. When it came to drug use, 81 percent of teens said they had the opportunity to use illicit substances, with 42.5 percent actually tried them. One of the most critical cases that the Searcy Police Department is working on involves a man selling poisonous pills to the young adults and teens of Searcy claiming to be drugs.
“We have never seen something like this. Teenagers think they have everything figured out, but they obviously do not. It’s important to keep an eye out for predators. I taught all three of my children what’s right and what’s wrong and what will make you successful and what will not. I taught them how to watch out for predators like the man we’re trying to lock up,” stated Lieutenant Todd Wells. These dangerous blue pills have killed several people in White County. What the police do know is that a man in his 30’s have been selling blue pills lined with rat poison to kids in White County. The kids buy them thinking the pill they’re taking is acid, ecstasy, or even adderall and end up dying.
Searcy’s Police Drug Task Force has a phenomenal reputation of getting the job done. They study, store, and destroy some of the most dangerous drugs that are distributed throughout Searcy. A drug task force investigator, Corderro Earls, had a lot to say about this unique case. “I will never understand why people hurt people, physically or mentally, especially kids. These pills are meant to slowly kill whoever consumes them. You take the pill, go in shock, your organs shut down one by one, and then you die. This is one of the main reasons to never do drugs because you are not one million percent sure what is in what you are taking. I am working extremely hard on this case to put this guy behind bars and keep our kids safe from drugs and predators like this guy,” stated Corderro.
The Searcy Police Department save lives everyday. These poisonous blue pills are now in the streets of Searcy and they are in full affect. They are everywhere in White County and with the help of citizens, the man selling the pills can be put behind bars. Together, White County can put a stop to this deadly drug.
