THE HOMECOMING INFORMATION SHEET that was handed out to the sweethearts has a mistake.  All sweethearts and royalty are excused all day Friday, Oct. 5 and escorts, Lionsteppers and cheerleaders are dismissed at 10 a.m. not 12.  

STUDENT COUNCIL would like to invite you to participate in Homecoming Spirit Week Monday, October 1- Friday, October 5.  

2018 HOMECOMING SPIRIT DAYS

Monday – America Day

Tuesday – Throwback Day (elementary, middle, junior high trends)

Wednesday – Decades Day (dress from your choice of a past decade, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s 90s, etc.)

Thursday – Red & Black Day

Friday – Dress Up Day

AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIP: If you are a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legion member in good standing, please come by the Guidance Center for a scholarship application. They will be awarding 8 in the spring semester.  

A-STATE:  Any student who applies for admission to A-State before October 31 will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship. Please note, this WILL also include students who applied early for admission. Students can apply online at www.astate.edu, and the scholarship winner will be announced on November 1. 

 

THE ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR MATHEMATICS, SCIENCES & THE ARTS INVITES YOU TO ATTEND:

THE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING INSTITUTE @ LITTLE ROCK:

Who Can Attend: Arkansas Students currently enrolled in 8th &9th Grade

 

SENIOR AD PACKETS are now available.  You may get one from your English teacher or either office.  Ads are due by October 12.

 

WILLIAMS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY will hold their Senior Preview Days on October 5th and October 19th. Interested students should apply at www.williamsbu.edu/senior/

 

JOSTENS WILL BE ON CAMPUS, October 15th, in the cafeteria for presentations for Juniors and Seniors.

Juniors 8am – 8:45am

Seniors 8:50 am – 9:35am

 

FUTURE FALL FEST: Searcy High School will host our Annual Fall Future Fest on on October 8.  We will have all seniors go to the cafeteria from 8:05-8:45 and juniors from 8:55-9:35. Parents are welcome to attend.

 

ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY PACK PREVIEW DAY will be on Saturday, October 6. This will be their only preview day this semester and is separate from the Red Wolf Ready Academic Open House events.

Pack Preview Day is open to juniors and seniors, as well as their family members/guests. The day will consist of an information fair, academic sessions, student services and involvement panels, and campus/residence hall/NYIT tours.

This is their most in-depth event to give students a glimpse into life at A-State. The event is completely free, but students are required to register at www.astate.edu/packpreview.

 

SEARCY HIGH SCHOOL will host a financial aid workshop for all seniors on October 2, 4th period (10:30-11:15) in the Performing Arts Center.  The workshop will be hosted by ASU-Beebe’s financial aid department.  All seniors are expected to attend and all interested parents are also welcome to attend.  We will post the video to our website for anyone who may miss this opportunity.  

 

PSAT: we still have space available for 11th graders to sign up to take the PSAT if they are interested.  The cost is $17.00 at sign up in the Guidance Center.

THE ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC. is offering their Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Application Deadline is November 15, 2018. CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

 

KEY CLUB: New Key Club membership applications can be picked up in Mr. Snow’s room 112.  The first meeting for new members will be Tuesday, October 2nd in the cafeteria at 7:35 A.M.  Dues for new members-$20.

 

YOUTH TO YOUTH: Youth to Youth will meet this Friday morning, Sept 28 at 7:35 am in Mrs. Delgado’s room, 325.
