STUDENT COUNCIL would like to invite you to participate in Homecoming Spirit Week Monday, October 1- Friday, October 5.  SHS dress code rules still apply for Spirit Week (NO TUTUS, NO COSTUMES, NO ONESIES).
The only exceptions that will be allowed are hats or caps in the halls AS A CLEAR PART OF AN APPROPRIATE SPIRIT WEEK COSTUME (teachers may request that they be removed in the classroom) and small decorative face paint that does not obscure the identity of the student.

HOMECOMING: Advance tickets to Homecoming are being sold tomorrow (Thursday, October 4) First Lunch.   Tickets are $5.00 for students and adults. 

 

SENIOR RECOGNITION ADS: Senior Recognition Ads are due October 12.

 

HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK: During Spirit Week, prizes will be awarded to students who exhibit great school spirit with their costumes each day!  Teachers will nominate students each day and from those nominations, 5 students will be randomly selected to receive a prize!! On Friday, the students who received the most nominations throughout the week will be awarded a prize!!

 

SEARCY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS will be released from classes on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1:25 to attend the Homecoming Assembly. The students who wish to attend the assembly may remain on campus; those not attending will be required to leave campus. Any Student not leaving campus must attend the assembly. The assembly will begin at 2:00 and will be complete before the 3:05 normal school dismissal time and buses will run at that time.

AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIP: If you are a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legion member in good standing, please come by the Guidance Center for a scholarship application. They will be awarding 8 in the spring semester.  

 

A-STATE:  Any student who applies for admission to A-State before October 31 will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship. Please note, this WILL also include students who applied early for admission. Students can apply online at www.astate.edu, and the scholarship winner will be announced on November 1. 

 

THE ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR MATHEMATICS, SCIENCES & THE ARTS INVITES YOU TO ATTEND:

THE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING INSTITUTE @ LITTLE ROCK:

Date: Saturday October 20

Where: College of Engineering and Information Technology (EIT), University of Arkansas at Little Rock

Time: 9:00 am- 12:30 pm

Cost: Free!

Who Can Attend: Arkansas Students currently enrolled in 8th &9th Grade

WILLIAMS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY will hold their Senior Preview Days on October 5th and October 19th. Interested students should apply at www.williamsbu.edu/senior/

 

JOSTENS WILL BE ON CAMPUS, October 15th, in the cafeteria for presentations for Juniors and Seniors.

Juniors 8am – 8:45am Seniors 8:50 am – 9:35am

 

FUTURE FALL FEST: Searcy High School will host our Annual Fall Future Fest on on October 8.  We will have all seniors go to the cafeteria from 8:05-8:45 and juniors from 8:55-9:35. Parents are welcome to attend.

 

ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY PACK PREVIEW DAY will be on Saturday, October 6. This will be their only preview day this semester and is separate from the Red Wolf Ready Academic Open House events.

Pack Preview Day is open to juniors and seniors, as well as their family members/guests. The day will consist of an information fair, academic sessions, student services and involvement panels, and campus/residence hall/NYIT tours.

This is their most in-depth event to give students a glimpse into life at A-State. The event is completely free, but students are required to register at www.astate.edu/packpreview.

 

THE ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC. is offering their Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Application Deadline is November 15, 2018. CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

FINE ARTS: The Fine Arts Club will be taking a field trip on Thursday 11/1/18 to Heber Springs

 

FCA: Fields of Faith- This year’s FCA Fields of Faith will be on Wednesday, October 10th at Ahlf Jr. High gym.  A tailgate party with FREE FOOD will begin at 5:30 and the event will start at 6:30.  ALL students and faculty are invited to attend this evening of student-led community-wide worship.
