MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL: Everyone is invited to the 2nd annual SHS Multicultural Festival-World Fair 2020 – Grow Your World

Celebrating Diversity in Searcy

 When: February 4, 2020 from 5:30- 7:00 in the SHS Cafeteria. Students & community members will display cultural diversity in Searcy through various country displays, crafts, performances, etc.

 

 

PAUL MITCHELL SCHOLARSHIP: Students who are considering going to Paul Mitchell following graduation can apply for a $1,000 scholarship.  Students will need to text 501-504-7166 for more information.  

 

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY is hosting their Spring Preview Days on February 17th and March 23rd. Registration is available January 17th at 9:00 am. Please visit PREVIEWDAY.MSSTATE.EDU

 

 FUTURE AGENT IN TRAINING PROGRAM: The FBI is offering The Future Agent in Training Program.  A student must be 16-19 years old by April 10; have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be willing to travel to Fort Smith (their responsibility) on April 10, 17, and 24 for the 8:30-4:00 program.  The student cannot be involved in any criminal proceeding (not to include traffic violations). Interested students can pick up information in the Guidance Center.

 

  • YEARBOOKS: The LAST day to order personalization on your 2020 Lion Yearbook is January 31.  Go to jostensyearbooks.com to order.

 

  • SENIORS ONLY:  You may nominate classmates for Mr. and Miss SHS in both high school offices from 1/23-1/27.  The criteria for Mr. and Miss are listed below.

Purpose:  To search for outstanding male and female students who exemplify Lion ideals and values including personality, inner beauty, talent, and social responsibility.

Criteria:  (to be checked after nominations)

  • No suspensions in current school year
  • Must be a good role model, responsible, kind, etc

Nominations: 

  • Seniors and teachers may nominate
  • Nomination forms will be in offices for 1 week

Voting: 

  • Nominees will be checked for eligibility
  • Student body (grades 9-12) will vote
  • Top 5 males and females will be finalists
  • Mr. and Miss will be revealed when books are passed out to the student body
