Searcy, AR (LP) — A video game is an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface or input device such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device to generate visual feedback for a player. Games provide a 23 percent gain over traditional learning. 2013 research shows that games can increase learning outcomes by two grade levels. During a 2020 survey, 38 percent of video game players still come from the 18 to 34 age demographic, and six percent are 65 years and older. Make sure you use your two non gaming days to socialize or the imbalance between online and offline friends might lead to emotional problems down the line. Samuel says, “I believe we love video games because they give us a sense of accomplishment.”  The other problem with gaming 12 hours a day for 5 days a week is the danger of burn-out. Orlando says, “A big reason why we love video games so much, I feel, is because they are an escape from our sometimes boring and monotonous lives.”  The statistic shows the gender split among U.S. computer and video gamer from 2006 to 2020. In 2020, it was calculated that women accounted for nearly 41 percent of all gamers in the United States, a slight increase over the previous year. Samuel says, “While there can be some benefits to playing video games, both on behavior and brain health, it’s not a risk-free hobby.”   Video games also keep us interested with puzzles and mini-games, and engaged due to their attention to detail. Orlando says, “Playing games for an extended period of time on a regular basis isn’t good for your physical health and can possibly hinder your social skills.”  The researchers found that boys who played video games most days had 24% fewer depressive symptoms, three years later, than boys who played video games less than once a month, although this effect was only significant among boys with low physical activity levels, and was not found among girls. Samuel says, “Some historians believe that mandala is the oldest game in the world based on the archaeological evidence found in Jordan that dates around 6000 BC.”  A comprehensive study from the Journal of Health Psychology shows that gaming disorders are linked to greater levels of loneliness, anxiety, depression, sleeping problems, social problems and many other psychological-social problems. Orlando says, “The game might have been played by ancient Athabaskans and could have been an ancient version of the modern mandala game.”  If you suffer from any of these problems, you are not helpless. 

But new research has shown that those hours spent playing video games may not actually have been rotting your brain, as your mom or dad warned. Samuel says, “I like the game because of the team spirit and energy along with the aggressiveness shown on the field.”  In fact, if you spent your childhood playing Sonic and Super Mario, you were secretly priming your memory for the rest of your life, the new study says. Orlando says, “He is one of the most popular cricketers and one of the most successful cricket captains in the world.”  While there can be some benefits to playing video games, both on behavior and brain health, it’s not a risk-free hobby. Samuel says, “Strict solos are games designed with one player in mind from the outset.”  Playing games for an extended period of time on a regular basis isn’t good for your physical health and can possibly hinder your social skills.  Orlando says, “Most of these games are thematic and filled with critical decision making, and they are about as immersive as they come.” The positive effects of video games are numerous, from better memory and problem solving to improved mood and social skills. Samuel says, “According to a 2018 market study made by cpd, there are 211.1 million gamers in America.”  While those who don’t play video games may argue that they make you lazy, harm your brain or ruin your social life, video games actually have many physical, cognitive and social benefits. Orlando says, “If we divide the amount spent by American gamers by the # of video gamers in America we know that Americans spend an average of $205.12 on video games and accessories each year.”  Thirty-six percent of adolescents 80% of boys and 20% of girls played video games. On average, gamers played for an hour on the weekdays and an hour and a half on the weekends. Samuel says, “According to a recent study by the CPD group, 73% of Americans over the age of 2 play video games of some kind.”  The American Academy of Pediatrics says the one to two hour limit is for young children aged two to five and that older kids and teens have “consistent limits” but don’t define that numerically. Game addiction problems can induce repetitive strain injuries, skin disorders or other health issues. Video Games can’t physically make you dumber, it just increases other behaviors that make you seem dumber. Orlando says, “They are popular for a reason. They are a lot of fun, and fun is not a waste of time.”  Video games are actually good for kids our age. Overall, video games are a part of modern society, and people who think it makes people stupid should just stop judging and just enjoy the video games. While 48% of women in the United States report having played a video game, only 6% identify as gamers, compared to 15% of men who identify as gamers. The term “girl gamer” rather than simply “gamer” has also been described as perpetuating the minority position of female gamer.

Other top girl gamers include Superwomen, earthquake, Overshadow, and Gammy. Some pro girl gamers, these women have practiced long enough to be good at the games they love, and have lots of tips and tutorials for other gamers. Yes, video games should be considered a sport. Rooted in competition, involving athletic ability, requiring practice and physical activity, taking place in stadiums, and cheered on by die hard fanatics, video games and the playing of them checks all of the required boxes. People who play video games for long periods of time tend to report feeling happier than those who do not, a study has indicated. Games make us 20% smarter. The main reason is that video games increase perceptual abilities, improve short-term memory, and help focus longer. On top of that, playing games sharpens the mind and boosts brain power. Gaming helps keep the brain consistently working at higher efficiency. East Carolina University published a study that suggests that playing games like the popular smartphone games Bejeweled or Bookworm for 30 minutes per day can help alleviate clinical depression and anxiety. Not just for the day, but a month later at levels that rival the effectiveness of medication.
