Orchestra practices for dinner concert

This year our Orchestra has quite a few events to participate in and has already played at one.

“We have already done All-Region auditions. We had twenty kids from senior high and junior high audition, and out of those twenty, we had fourteen to make it which is awesome,” said orchestra director Megan Joyner.

“It was a lot more difficult for the tenth graders, than it was last year. We had a lot of people make it, but this year only two from the high school orchestra made it. We had a lot, like sixteen out of twenty, that made it and went this year, so we are really proud of them,” sophomore Mary Beth Barden explained.

Joyner said the orchestra worked day after day to be as good as they are.

“We have been practicing, learning our music, going over stuff, and learning at least three pieces a week, to try and get ready,” Joyner said.

Barden said orchestra is now working on their music for their up coming concert.

“Right now we are working really hard for our next concert, we are going to be having a dinner called ‘Dinner with The Orchestra’,” Barden said. “We are selling tickets and people are going to come and eat, and all of our orchestras for all of the different schools will come and play as entertainment.”

Dinner With The Orchestra will be on October 9 and all of the orchestra members will sell tickets for $10.

“The orchestra is going to be the background music while we provide dinner,” said Joyner. “We have been rehearsing for it since the beginning of the year.  It’s going to include music from Katy Perry, Fun Fun Fun by The Beach Boys, and some really fun pieces that the kids enjoy.”
